Hawaiian Kalo Farm & Falls
Along the road to Hāna we visit Ke'anae Peninsula to volunteer on an ancestral kalo farm.
Swim in the spring-fed stream that flows into the kalo patches and powerfully connect with local Hawaiians through this muddy and fun service-learning day.
Learn the cultural significance of the kalo plant from the mahi’ai (farmers) themselves through the Hawaiian creation story of Hāloa. Recognize the ecosystem-enhancing farming practices and sustainable water usage of Hawaiians in their ingenious ahupua’a system.
Cultivate a deep relationship with one another and the natural world through our circle-share after getting our hands dirty in a completely new & fun way.
